The Senior Accountant, Accounts Payable position is an important role in the Finance Department, accountable for the AP function in Canada.  A key responsibility will be to establish best practices for completing payments and controlling expenses via receiving, processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.  In addition they will be contributing to regular month end, quarter end and year end processes as part of the broader finance team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Month-end journal entries and analysis
  • Preparation of working documents and related analysis to support month end, quarterly and year end processes
  • Prepare and analyze General Ledger account reconciliations
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Research and resolve related issues pertaining to Accounts Payable
  • Maintain appropriate documentation
  • ACCPAC/ Oracle
  • MS Office applications
  • Basware & Blackline
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting
  • Completed CGA/ CMA/ CA designation or working toward a CPA Designation with 5 years’ experience in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in full cycle accounting, with a particular focus on Accounts Payable
  • Working knowledge of ACCPAC/ Oracle preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills and general proficiency in other MS Office applications
  • Ability to work autonomously and independently with little to no supervision
  • Basware & Blackline experience an asset
  • Highly effective communication (oral and written) and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, research and reporting skills
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills to handle multiple tasks and often time sensitive in nature
  • Highly attentive to detail
  • Decisive and results oriented, with a bias for action and sense of urgency
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Able to work with complex processes
  • Manages staff of up to 4 people
  • Must be able to successfully pass all applicable background screening tests.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
